I've always been shy in social situations, particularly when encountering new people or presenting in front of crowds. My heart beats fast, I sweat, and I practice what to say repeatedly. There are times I cancel plans simply to stay away from the anxiety. But whether this is actually shyness or something more severe, I'm not certain. I've done reading on social anxiety, and some of it does ring a bell, but I haven't been officially diagnosed.
