Am I meditating too much on the heart chakra?

Hello, I am Sushmita, born on 31st August, 1990 at 3:45 AM in Kolkata. I have been meditating on the heart chakra every day for a month now. Initially, it used to feel healing. But lately, I cry at random times, get chest pressure, and become emotionally drained. Can we overdo heart chakra work? How do I know if I should slow down or quit before it gets too much?

Hello Sushmita ji, Yes, it is possible to overdo heart chakra meditation. The heart chakra is deeply emotional. When you focus on it daily for long periods, it can start releasing stored grief, attachment, and unprocessed feelings faster than your system can integrate them. Random crying, chest heaviness, and emotional exhaustion are common signs of emotional overload, not failure. How to know you should slow down: ● You feel emotionally drained instead of refreshed ● Emotions spill out at unrelated times ● Chest pressure or heaviness persists after meditation ● You feel overly sensitive or raw What to do instead of quitting completely: ● Reduce frequency (2–3 times a week instead of daily) ● Shorten sessions (5–10 minutes is enough) ● Balance with grounding practices like walking, stretching, or focusing on breath in the belly ● Include root or solar plexus awareness to stabilize emotions Heart chakra work should feel supportive, not depleting. If your life feels harder instead of lighter, your body is asking for balance, not more opening.
