Are there some easy meditation methods that would help me get past stress and fear?

I've had anxiety for years now, and whenever I attempt to meditate, I experience a constriction in my chest that won't resolve itself. I get into a chair, breathe deliberately, listen to soothing music but rather than tranquility, I experience more distress. It's as if my body refuses to relax. I am seeking something basic and soft, something that doesn't overwhelm. Can you provide me with some meditative methods that are basic enough to assist me in lowering stress and fear?
