Does mindful eating actually help reduce anxiety related to food and body image?

I have strong anxiety and self-judgment related to my body image and diet. I often eat quickly and then feel intense regret and guilt afterwards. I want to try mindful eating meditation to heal this relationship. Can this practice effectively break the loop of guilt and anxiety after eating, or does focusing intensely on food just make my disordered thinking worse?
