How can I remain kind without taking in pain?
Since I began working with the heart chakra, I've been feeling more love and compassion but also more drained. I soak up people's feelings easily and sometimes feel too open. Are there any downsides to having an open heart chakra? And how do I protect myself without shutting down? (Rashmi, 01/03/1988, 9:56 AM)

When the heart is open but not protected, you start absorbing others’ emotions as if they are your own. That is why you feel drained. The downside is not “too much love,” it is weak emotional boundaries. A healthy heart chakra is open and stable, not leaking energy. To stay kind without taking in pain: ● Before meditation, set a clear intention like: “I send love, but I do not absorb others’ emotions.” ● After heart chakra work, always ground yourself—slow breathing, walking barefoot, or placing attention on your feet. ● Visualize a soft green light around your chest, not wide open, but gently sealed like a protective cocoon. ● Use compassion without involvement: care without carrying. You do not need to shut the heart. You need balance. Anahata works best when paired with grounding and self-respect. Kindness does not require self-sacrifice.
