How do I quiet my mind even during brief meditation periods amidst this constant anxiety?
Name: Kunal, Date of birth: 16 May 2005, Place of birth: Delhi, Time: 11:30 AM. For stress relief, I have been trying meditation, but it seems to be a battle even for short times. When I shut my eyes, the first thing that pops into my thought is to panic. Then, I get random apprehensions of the past and present ones as well. I wish I could be peaceful, but I tense up more than I did when I began. How do you get your mind relaxed through brief meditation periods if your anxiety interrupts you? Is there a method that suits someone like me better, or might the birth chart reveal why I have such trouble with mental calmness?

Your mind thinks that if it stops worrying, it will be blindsided by a threat. The Solution: Use "External Anchoring." Instead of closing your eyes, try Trataka (Candle Gazing). Light a candle and focus only on the flame. If a panic thought arises, name it ("There is a thought about the past") and return your eyes to the flame. Keeping your eyes open tells your amygdala (the brain's fear center) that there are no immediate physical threats in the room. Insight: Born May 16, you are a Taurus. Taurus is an Earth sign that needs tangibility. "Emptying the mind" feels unnatural to you. You need a physical object (like the flame) to feel secure.
