Which mindfulness meditation methods really help reduce anxiety and don’t make me feel tense?
Name: Rhea, Date of birth: 3 March 2005, Place of birth: Indore, Time: 6:40 AM. In order to deal with anxiety, I have been attempting to implement mindfulness practice, especially before exams and social situations. But most methods I've discovered on the internet such as body scan or awareness of the breath tense me up more than they relax me. I sit down meaning to relax, but my mind starts to spin and I feel even worse. Which mindfulness meditation practices really help me calm down without tensing me up more? I need something that feels soothing and earthy, not another mental exercise I'm doing poorly.

4 months agoHello Rhea. Many people find "Body Scans" stressful because they force you to notice tension you'd rather ignore. If you want something "earthy," you need to move away from purely mental exercises. The Solution: Use a Grounding Object. Hold a cold stone, a piece of wood, or even a heavy blanket. Focus 100% on the texture, temperature, and weight. When your mind spins, go back to the physicality of the object. This "grounds" your energy into the Earth element, which is naturally soothing. Insight: Born March 3, you are a Pisces. You are naturally very "Airy" and "Watery." You lack the "Earth" element in your emotional expression, which is why "Earthy" practices feel so healing for you.
