Why do I struggle to commit to the practice even though I know it works?

I know logically that meditation works and makes me feel better, but I struggle severely to commit to a routine. I consistently skip sessions and then feel guilty. Is this inconsistency a self-sabotaging behavior rooted in an old way of acting that resists genuine healing and change? My full details are 23rd August 1988, 10:30 AM.
