Why does Cleaning visualization cause sharp physical spine pain?

During the Heartfulness 'Cleaning' ritual, when I visualize the heaviness leaving my back, I get a sharp, debilitating physical pain in my spine or shoulders. This pain forces me to stop. I believe this is a physical reaction to an old trauma or emotional block related to self-support being released. My name is Aditi, DOB 1st December 1985. Time: 8:40 PM. Location: Pune. Is this physical discomfort a necessary part of the purification process, or should I stop to prevent injury?
