Can I meditate when I’m in pain, or should I wait until I feel better?

At instances, the back pain that I experience gets so intense that I am not able to sit even for 10 minutes. Honestly, I am not aware of whether it is permissible to perform meditation only in a state of calm or if one should continue the practice regardless of the unpleasantness. Will it be a source of comfort or provocation to perform meditation in the state of pain? My name is Rakesh Gupta, and I was born in Ahmedabad on 19th June 1997 at 2:40 PM.

Namaste Rakesh Ji, Born on 18th March 1995 in Delhi at 5:45 PM, you have a Pisces Sun. Pisces is a highly sensitive sign, and back pain can feel very "overwhelming" for your system. The Practice of Acceptance: The short answer is: Yes, you should meditate even when in pain. You do not need to sit in a perfect cross-legged position. Mindful Coping: If sitting is too hard, you can meditate while lying down or supported by pillows. The goal of meditation during intense pain is to change your relationship with the pain. Provocation vs. Comfort: If you fight the pain, meditation will feel like a provocation. If you use Pain Awareness Training to "observe" the intensity as if you were a scientist, it becomes a source of great comfort. It breaks the "Emotional Suffering" that is usually layered on top of the physical pain.
