Does meditation work for period pain or just emotional pain?
Every month it is so that my menstrual cramps are very strong. I came across a video that featured several women who were explaining how meditation was a great help in the alleviation of their pain. But I am still unsure of how the mere awareness of the breath can actually bring down the body ache that I have. Is it true that meditation is just as good for period pain, the emotional side of stress, or both? My name is Priya Sinha, and I was born in Kolkata on 12th November 1998 at 5:10 PM.

Biological Self-Healing: Menstrual cramps are caused by the contraction of the uterine muscles. When you are stressed or anxious about the pain, your body produces Adrenaline, which makes the contractions even more painful. The Process: Meditation uses Breath Awareness Therapy to relax the smooth muscles of the abdomen. It increases blood flow to the pelvic region, which helps in flushing out the prostaglandins that cause the pain. The Result: Meditation is effective for both the physical cramps and the emotional PMS. It balances your Progesterone-Estrogen response by lowering overall systemic stress, making the "body ache" feel much more manageable.
