Why does my pain feel lighter after meditation? Is it just mental?
Every time I participate in guided meditation, my headache or pains in the stomach appear to alleviate to some extent. I doubt whether those effects are natural or just a result of my distraction. Is it really possible for the brain to lower pain signals, or is meditation just a temporary respite from which I seem to be unaware? My name is Neha Patil, and I was born in Pune on 25th August 1999 at 6:20 PM.

Your Gemini Moon makes your mind very "fast," which can lead to high sensitivity toward physical discomfort like headaches or stomach aches. The Neuroscience of Perception: What you are experiencing is a verified neurological shift, not just a mental distraction. Meditation decreases the activity in the Primary Somatosensory Cortex, which is the part of the brain that determines "where" and "how much" it hurts. The Logic: In guided meditation, you are training your Pain Awareness. Instead of the brain saying "This is a terrible headache," it starts to say "There is a sensation of heat and pressure." By stripping away the emotional judgment, the brain naturally "lowers" the pain signals. It is not a temporary respite; it is a Reframing of the Nervous System. You are essentially "training" your brain to be less reactive to the signals your body is sending.
