Can meditation change my emotional patterns in the long run?

Name: Kabir, Date of birth: 2 February 2002, Place of birth: Nashik, Time: 9:05 AM. I have been meditating every day for the last few months in order to control my anxiety, yet I still feel overwhelmed in busy places or while talking. My therapist said my emotional reactions may be connected to underlying patterns. How does meditation assist me with social anxiety and may it actually change my emotional patterns in the long run? I want to find out if it is just a method for relieving stress or something that can actually change my reaction to stress.

Hello Kabir. Yes, meditation can absolutely change your patterns through Neuroplasticity. Currently, your brain has a "well-worn path" of anxiety. Meditation is like hacking a new trail through a forest. The Solution: Mindfulness of Emotion. When you feel overwhelmed in a busy place, don't try to stop it. Instead, say to yourself, "This is a feeling of overwhelm. It is a wave. I am the ocean." Over months, this creates a "Buffer Zone" between the stressor and your reaction. You stop being "Kabir the Anxious" and become "Kabir the Observer." Insight: Born Feb 2, you are an Aquarius. Aquarians are prone to "over-intellectualizing" emotions. You need to move from "thinking about" anxiety to "feeling" it without judgment.
