Is it really possible for meditation to heal the overthinking and anxiety that I have?
Name: Raghav Desai, Date of birth: 6 June 1996, Place of birth: Ahmedabad, Time: 7:15 AM. I've been dwelling on the same thoughts over and over about work, relationships, and the decisions that I've made. I've tried meditating, but I don't know if it's really doing anything other than distracting me for a little bit. Does meditation really work to stop overthinking and anxiety or is it just a passing distraction? I'd love to know if it will help me stop the cycle and be mentally clearer and emotionally steadier in the long run.

3 months agoHello Raghav. Meditation is not a distraction; it is Metacognition (thinking about thinking). Overthinking is like a hamster on a wheel. Meditation doesn't try to stop the hamster; it helps you realize you aren't the hamster—you're the person watching the wheel. The Solution: "River Visualization." Imagine your thoughts are leaves floating down a river. You are sitting on the bank. You don't jump in to grab a leaf (anxiety) and you don't try to block the river. You just watch them pass. Over time, the "Cycle" breaks because you stop giving the thoughts the "fuel" of your attention. Insight: Born June 6, you are a Gemini. Gemini is ruled by Mercury (the mind). You have a "Dual" nature—one side wants to think, the other wants to be. Meditation helps bridge the two.
