Which Buddhist meditation practices could help me in managing fear and anxiety better?

Name: Aditya, Date of birth: 27 July 2004, Place of birth: Siliguri, Time: 7:25 AM. I've recently begun seeking Buddhist guidance to manage anxiety and fear. I mostly find myself getting overwhelmed prior to public speaking or even simple social interactions. I've come across loving-kindness and Vipassana meditation, but I don't have any idea where to start or if they're appropriate for me. What are some Buddhist meditations that will allow me to cope with fear and anxiety better? I want something that not only quiets me in the moment but also builds my emotional strength over time.

Hello Aditya. Buddhist practices are wonderful because they don't just "relax" you; they retrain your brain. For social anxiety and public speaking, the best starting point isn't Vipassana (which can be intense), but Metta (Loving-Kindness). The Solution: Metta Meditation. Before a social event, silently repeat: "May I be safe. May I be at peace. May I be kind to myself." Then, extend it to the audience: "May they be safe. May they be at peace." This shifts your brain from "Threat Mode" to "Connection Mode," which naturally lowers fear. Insight: Born July 27, you are a Leo. Leos care deeply about how they are perceived (public speaking). Your anxiety stems from a fear of losing "status" or "warmth" in the eyes of others.
