Can I, being Mexican-Indian, use white sage respectfully?

I’ve seen debates online about cultural appropriation when non-Native people use white sage. I am Mexican-Indian, and I wonder if it’s okay for me to use it since my culture also has deep spiritual traditions. I want to know if I can still use sage respectfully, and how I should approach it so that it feels right, conscious, and honoring of its origins.
