Does visualizing protective light around myself restore aura balance?

Sometimes, I imagine a bright light surrounding me. I feel protected and feel less stressed. I do this when I am at work or when I go to sleep, and I can't fall asleep. So. Is it a recognized form of aura balancing technique? Can I do other visualization techniques for my aura?
