Is crying or journaling actually a form of self aura balancing?

So I've noticed that when I cry, or journal, my thoughts into words or draw my thoughts, I feel relieved and calmed. So I want to ask is this kind of self aura balancing technique that I am using? Also is there any other technique that I could use to feel more peaceful and calmer?
