Is it okay for me to burn white sage even if I’m not Native American?

I’ve seen so many people who aren’t Native American burning sage for cleansing and spiritual purposes. Some say it’s fine if done respectfully, others say it’s always offensive. I’m confused and want to know the truth—can I burn sage for my personal rituals without being disrespectful, or should I avoid it entirely?
