I’m worried burning sage could summon demons—how true is this?

Some people I know strongly believe that burning sage could summon demons or open portals to dark spirits. This really scares me, but I don’t know if it’s true. Have others actually experienced this, or is it more of a myth created out of fear? I want to feel safe while using sage and understand the reality behind these claims.
