What should I do with white sage if I’m not Native American?

I only recently realized that burning white sage might be disrespectful if I’m not indigenous. I had already bought some and even burned a little before knowing this. Now I feel unsure about what to do—should I keep using it mindfully and respectfully, or stop completely? I want to handle this in the most conscious and respectful way possible.
