Why does candle wax crackle loudly during my aura cleansing ritual?

So, I sometimes just sit in front of the fire and stare at it to release the energy. And sometimes it pops and flickers. It might sound funny, but does that mean my energy is releasing anything because I make sure there is no wind while doing so.
