Why does my boyfriend feel emotionally blocked even when I try to comfort him?

My boyfriends opens up rarely and I have to understand just by looking at his face. But not opening up to people is leading to misunderstanding at work and will other people.. and also between us. I feel like he had some emotional blocks in him that is preventing him to express emotions. I want to get him some aura cleansing crystals. But crystals are really huge so, he might not keep, can i have it in form of ring or any small accessories?
